GeelongPort acknowledges the Wadawurrung People as the Traditional Owners of the land and waters where they operate and pays their respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
GeelongPort has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation that commits both organisations to working together to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. This relationship plays a large role in GeelongPort becoming a more inclusive workplace that understands, values and respects the histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
GeelongPort is committed to learning from the Wadawurrung People to better acknowledge, understand and respect the Traditional Owner history and cultural heritage, and to nurture and care for Wadawurrung Country.
To assist with this learning, GeelongPort is currently running a program to provide Cultural Awareness Training to all GeelongPort employees.
GeelongPort has developed a Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan which outlines a significant number of actions that the organisation is committed to completing over the next 12 months.
