Ports Australia has released a first-of-its kind guidance document to assist ports in creating practical plans to decarbonise.
The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory Guidance for Ports aims to support Australian Ports, and the businesses and structures that work with them, including tenant stevedores, towage and pilotage, to shape individual suitable and practical plans to decarbonise that are fit-for-purpose, evidence-based and cost‑effective.
Understanding what to measure as emissions in the maritime environment will assist ports in determining what further decarbonisation measures are required.
This Guidance was developed with support from Worley Consulting and provides a comprehensive, easy, and explicit understanding of how Australian ports can quantify and report on Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions.
