The Australian Hydrographic Office (AHO) is the national authority responsible for hydrographic surveying and nautical charting in Australian waters. As part of the Department of Defence, the AHO ensures the safety of navigation for all mariners by providing accurate and up-to-date hydrographic information. The AHO operates under the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and the Navigation Act 2012 (Cth).
ACTIVITIES

Our Role

  • Official Nautical Charts & Publications: Producing and maintaining charts and publications for Australian waters in compliance with international standards.
  • Hydrographic Data Management: Collecting, compiling, collating and disseminating hydrographic data to support safe navigation and maritime operations.
  • International Collaboration: Working with the global hydrographic community to enhance maritime safety and data exchange
