PNG Ports Corporation Ltd is one of PNG’s oldest State- Owned Entities (SOE) with a history spanning back to 1963. Services provided - pilotage, surveillance and line handling, berthage, storage services, commercial leases - Warehouses and vacant land, harbour management and maritime compliance responsibilities. PNG Ports is a fully corporatized SOE whose ownership is vested in trust with the Kumul Consolidated Holdings on behalf of the Papua New Guinea Government. Other SOE’s are: Water PNG Ltd, PNG Power Ltd, Air Niugini, Motor Vehicle Insurance Ltd, National Development Bank, Post PNG Ltd, Kumul Agriculture Ltd and Kumul Telikom Holdings Ltd
ACTIVITIES
Our ports handle in excess of 9.9 million freight tonnes of cargo annually– 100% of PNG’s entire seaborne trade and the main gateway to more than 300 scattered islands.
The company owns and operates 15 of the 23 declared maritime Ports in the country. Of which, 12 (80%) are run as Community Service Obligations (CSO), which provide an essential service.
